The challenge
The challenge was to make the sales process of over 100 independent retailers more efficient, transparent and data-driven. What was needed was a BI and data analytics solution based on the right technology that would serve as the sole source of information and enable well-founded decisions in the sales process on a daily basis.
My solution
As a BI and data analytics expert, I used a technology matrix to work out the basis for deciding on the optimum technical setup and developed a customized architecture based on the Microsoft Azure technology stack and Microsoft Power BI (Cloud).
As a requirements engineer, I worked with all relevant stakeholders to develop the requirements for the target solution.
In the roles of (proxy) Product Owner and Scrum Master, I introduced an agile development methodology (Scrum) and implemented a cloud-based solution with a hybrid team of internal and external employees that consolidates the data from the source systems in a central data pool and visualizes all relevant key figures in dashboards and reports.
The added value
The implementation of the BI/data analytics solution has resulted in:
Enabling dealers to analyze their sales activities on a daily basis
Enabling daily data-driven decisions for all retailers
The sales process significantly improved
A significant increase in efficiency at the dealers has been recorded
Improved data governance processes in the sales area
Previously high reporting costs reduced to a minimum
Discrepancies between dealer and manufacturer reporting prevented
